About us

Every skill learned with care.
Every person seen.

team(1)

We build bridges between potential and opportunity by focusing on teaching young autistic individuals the skills that matter, employment that respects dignity, and daily supports that foster real participation. Our work is rooted in evidence-based practices and shaped by what neurodivergent adults themselves need to thrive- not by what the world expects them to tolerate.

At Ura, employment is not an endpoint, it is part of a broader ecosystem of meaningful engagement, autonomy, and self-directed life skills. We believe that when the environment adapts to the individual, rather than forcing the individual to adapt to a rigid environment , everyone benefits.

Through our work, we aim to shift how society understands neurodivergence: not as a limitation, but as a different and brilliant way of being.

Meet The Team

Ura’s work is carried out by a small, dedicated team of trainers and facilitators who work closely with students on a daily basis. Each team member is trained to support diverse learning styles, communication needs, and sensory profiles, ensuring consistency, safety, and respect across all environments.

Our team brings together experience in: vocational training and task instruction, life and functional skill development, supported communication practices, behaviour support rooted in dignity and evidence. Rather than operating in rigid roles, the team works collaboratively, adapting supports as students grow and needs change.

Founder & Clinical Director

Antara Dey Chowdhury

BCaBA, LLB, Squadron Leader – Indian Air Force (retired)

Ura was founded by Antara Dey Chowdhury, a behaviour analyst, vocational practitioner, and autism parent, with over a decade of hands-on experience supporting neurodivergent  children, adolescents, and young adults.

Her work is grounded in evidence-based practice, lived experience, and a firm belief that dignity, autonomy, and meaningful engagement must remain central to all support systems.

Antara’s focus lies in building environments where neurodivergent  individuals can develop real skills, participate in purposeful work, and communicate in ways that feel authentic and respected.

Ura reflects her commitment to long-term, ethical support, moving beyond short-term interventions toward sustainable models of vocational and life skill development.

Individualised

Environments adapt to the person, not the other way around.

Collaborative

Our team works together, adjusting support as students grow and needs change.

Our Mission

"Ura exists to create a new reality."

Many neurodivergent young adults carry strengths that the world needs: deep focus, methodical thinking, innovative problem-solving, and an unrivalled commitment to routine and quality. Yet across societies including India and globally, employment outcomes for neurodivergent adults remain profoundly inequitable.

In India, only a small fraction of neurodivergent adults are engaged in paid work, even though the law (such as the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act) recognises their right to employment and support. Most remain without structured work opportunities, not because they lack ability, but because workplaces and training systems were never designed to accommodate their way of thinking and learning (Dr. T. Srinivas Rajkumar (2025) Rajkumar, T. S. (2025, June 3).

International data reflects a similar gap: in the UK, for example, just around 30-34% of neurodivergent adults are in employment, compared with over half of all people with disabilities and most of the non-disabled workforce. Many others want to work but face inaccessible hiring practices, sensory challenges, lack of accommodations, and misunderstanding of their communication styles. (House of Commons Library. (2025)

This isn’t a marginal problem, it’s a systemic exclusion that cuts off pathways to independence, purpose, and contribution. It also obscures the fact that neurodivergent individuals often outperform expectations when given the right conditions and supports. (Adler, M. (Simons Foundation, 2024)

What parents say

review

Adarsh has been part of the URA family since September 2025, and the change has been wonderful.

He is always excited to attend and has developed a newfound sense of calm and happiness. We've seen this progress bleed into his other passions, like music and Sloka training, where his focus and independence have reached new heights.

We truly believe a life of independence is within his reach. Thank you, Antara and the staff, for your incredible dedication!

Parent of Adarsh

Pratyush was in his teens and having major anger issues when we met Antara. After hearing out our concerns, Antara devised a program which had a very positive impact on Pratyush's behaviour.

All of a sudden he was happy and was eager to go to the centre everyday.

It's been 5 years and Antara has been a constant companion for Pratyush. She is good at understanding his needs at different times and tweaking programs accordingly. We have seen Pratyush grow more confident and independent.

Parent of Pratyush

Relocating to India was an incredibly difficult transition for my 23-year-old son. For over a year, we struggled with aggression and school refusal. That changed the moment we found Ura.

The dedication of the teachers and the structure of the vocational facility have transformed our lives. My son has settled down so beautifully that he now chooses "training center" over his lifelong favorite activity vacations!

Seeing him look forward to his day and finding such purpose has brought peace back to our home. We are eternally grateful to the hardworking team at Ura for giving my son a productive and wonderful time.
